Sometimes the crafts you do as a child are the best. Whether you have kids or not, it's still perfectly acceptable to use up the cards and bags you have as gift tags. They take up less space, save you money for the future and can be done as a social activity (if you have craftier friends than me that is!).
Santa bought me a lovely tag punch for Christmas (via a gift card for Hobbycraft) which I decided to put to better use on my Christmas cards. If I hadn't been bought the punch, I would have used my cookie cutters to create a range of shapes that could be used as tags. The cutting may have taken longer, but the variety would definitely have made the effort worthwhile.
I have an enormous amount of gift bags. They get put in a cupboard for me to reuse with other people. Yet, most of the time, if I am at home, I will wrap presents rather than use a bag, so this mass has accumulated over the course of a couple of MONTHS. Rather than donate to the recycling bin, I decided to add these to my gift tag army. I cut out some shapes from the Christmas cards to jazz up the plainer designs and then stamped them with some little stamps I bought four years ago and have only used once since.
Do you have any other uses for cards or gift bags that help to bring them back to life again? I'd love for you to leave links in the comments box. Don't forget to use up your leftovers in a cute craft so you have something to link up on 28th January. I can't wait to see what you lovelies have been up to.

This brought back childhood memories, my grandad used to use pinking scissors to make his old Christmas cards into gift tags
I have the exact same punch which is ridiculously pretty and very handy! Thought about doing this too, but somehow I always end up putting gifts into gift bags even if they are wrapped because it seems like I am one of the several-small-instead-of-one-big-presents type of people. Love your tags!

I have SO many giftbags from Quinn's birthday party and even her baby shower that can only be used for so many things. I think you've inspired me to make them into cards or something now. Thanks :D
Wow super cool idea! Easy yet very original!
Great idea! This year I didn't do much to celebrate the holiday, but I will pass this on to some friends.
